When I worked in education (I taught and was an instructional assistant), the snacks were donated by parents. If they ran out and no one donated, teachers had to pay their own money for a class snack

for us I thought our school lunch was fairly healthy well we didn’t get anything with dyes ( only apple juice ) , & we had portioned food which was filling enough
