Delicious Sugar Buns Recipe 😍🤍 Soft, fluffy and lightly sweet – these beautifully shaped yeast buns are perfect with coffee, tea or just as a sweet treat.🤗 Makes 7 - 8 pieces 📝 Ingredients For the yeast dough: • 250 g all-purpose flour, sifted(2 cups) • 1 tsp instant dry yeast • 40 g sugar (3 tbsp) • 1 egg (medium) • 100 ml lukewarm milk (scant ½ cup) • 30 g soft butter (2 tbsp) • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1 pinch of salt For brushing & topping: • 1 egg yolk • pearl sugar (or sugar sprinkles) • powdered sugar, for dusting 🤍 Instructions 1. Sift the flour into a mixing bowl. Make a well in the center, add 1 tsp of sugar and the dry yeast. Pour in about 2 tbsp of the lukewarm milk, gently mix, and let it sit covered for about 10 minutes until foamy. 2. Add the remaining sugar, the rest of the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and salt. Knead into a smooth dough. Then add the soft butter in pieces and knead for about 8–10 minutes until the dough is soft, elastic and slightly shiny. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size. 3. Divide the dough into 7 equal portions and shape each into a ball. Roll each ball into a short oval (not too long). Roll the oval up tightly from the long side, sealing the ends well. Then roll the log gently back and forth with your hands until it reaches about 25–30 cm in length. 4. With both ends of the log facing you, cross the right end over the left to create a loop. Pick up the loop and pull the right end up through the bottom of the loop and out the top. Do the same with the left end. The two ends should meet at the center. Press gently to secure. 5. Place the shaped buns onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for 30–40 minutes, until puffy. 6. Brush with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with pearl sugar. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (350 °F) top/bottom heat for about 15–18 minutes, until golden. 7. Remove from the oven and immediately cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let cool completely. Once cool, dust lightly with powdered sugar. These sugar buns are a true eye-catcher and simply delicious. 🤍
