@kristysketolifestyle: Rail Explorers in Clay, WV. This was the Buffalo Creek ride. First of all, Derek and I had no clue these things went so fast. Only one person really has to pedal to make the car go and that person is also in control of the brakes. That person was Derek. :) He said it wasn’t hard at all. There was no resistance. I pedaled pretty much the whole time basically to keep warm. It was about 64 that day but in the woods, as the sun was setting, it was cold!! Especially when you’re going that fast. You can pack drinks and snacks. We packed some fruit and ate it while we waited for the other cars to come to the turn-around point. Being that we were the first ones, we waited quite a while. I’m not sure why it took so long for the other cars to come in? Maybe they went slower than my speed demon husband? Maybe they stopped to take pictures? We didn’t know that we were allowed to really as they didn’t tell us much other than “keep pedaling and wear your seatbelt at all times.” We did slow down a few times on the way back. It was getting dark on our way back and I was terrified that we’d see bears, wolves or bobcats as the guides said they have seen them before. My mind played tricks on me a few times but we survived without a bear encounter. 🐻 If you do this in the fall like we did, I’d suggest taking a coat, hat and gloves as I froze!!! My teeth chattered the whole way. It’s about 30 min out to the turn around spot, an hour wait if you’re the first car like us and then 30 min back. So 2 hours in total. It was fun though and I’d love to take my girls sometime. @Rail Explorers
