Reading some of the comments and I agree with them. This would not work in the U.S. since drivers cannot or refuse to see those little arrows on top of the machines

I don't know why they don't use diamond lanes instead of causing more traffic backup to do all the zipping and unzipping, it a waste of time and money....

en Belgique on aurait bloqué 15km avant et après ces travaux, histoire de faire de bien long bouchons et ca prendrait en moyenne 10ans

Similar in Boston - zipper lane / hov lane / carpool lane. Additional lane in direction of backup mainly during rush hour traffic; opens and closes for morning and drive home rush.

I don’t get it. It looks like it’s just adding a lane to one side and doing nothing to the other. I thought it’s suppose to “add” to one side and “subtract” from the other.

Turbulent Arrival :
This is usually used to give an extra lane to either side of the road, but with that guardrail there it does nother but shut a lane down. What's the point?

You would think they would create or have some vehicles capable of doing this on the left side, so THEY WON’T GO IN THE OPPOSITE LANE OF TRAFFIC.

we call it the zipper machine but it looks way more expensive than two skid steers. I think the wall here is much heavier.

This is daily for the Boston commute 93 S & N . South side of Boston. Opens or closes a hover lane to ease congestion. FYI waste of money!
