@gin.ah.tonic: just thought that maybe being the black sheep in an Asian family would be relatable especially as a first gen immigrant growing up with two opposing cultures and I say this knowing I love my parents bc of all the sacrifices they made to pick up their lives and move to a new country, learn a completely new language, & culture BUT that’s also what makes it hard. I speak English & they speak Mandarin meaning I can’t actually communicate with them and have those deep conversations and connections like I want. I was raised in a country that valued individualism and independence but expected to be the complete opposite at home which has always led to soooooo many disagreements.
