Alright, New Hampshire… help me out here because I’m honestly stuck. We now have a cell phone ban for students. Like, an actual law. Not a school rule, not a teacher guideline—a LAW. Here’s my question: HOW did this even become a law? What happened in the classroom that was so extreme that it went all the way up the chain and someone said, “Yep, this needs to be written into law”? I don’t want “back in my day” stories. I don’t care if you didn’t have a phone in high school. I don’t care if your kid talks more at lunch now. I want logical sense. Who pushed this? Why? What data proves this was necessary? Some people say: ✅ It’s good for socializing. ✅ If parents need their kid, they can call the office. ✅ Kids don’t need a phone in class anyway. Others say: ❌ School safety concerns (active shooter situations). ❌ Teachers should control their classrooms without laws. ❌ This is government overreach. All of that is interesting… but NONE of it explains how this turned into an actual law instead of just a school policy. Why was it such a huge deal it needed legislation? Make it make sense.
