Neighbor from the states: Canada is not the same it was 10-15 years ago. Thats was when it got the “friendly and nice” title. Now, Canada is not only climatically cold but also socially.

I noticed this as well, I still walk around giving people the "Nod" and a smile or just a simple "How ya doin" and I watch people actively avoid eye contact, thought it was just my appearance 😂

It’s not just Canada, the world is a different place. People in general have become very individualistic. I think social media, influencers and the pandemic are three key factors that have caused a major shift in how people act, and interact with others

I’m from Manitoba and say hello to people on the street and most people are more than happy to say hello 👋 😊 when in small towns I still wave at people while driving and people smile and wave back
