Replying to @MAFE 🐺 Health Update: Sorry for not updating sooner. Things are just constantly changing so it’s hard to keep up. I’m still feeling pretty awful but we did get a set of clean peripheral blood cultures, so next step is a new line. Unfortunately, due to all my scar tissue from previous lines, IR doesn’t think they can place another. They said the last line they got in was a “Hail Mary” and a total miracle. So they called in vascular surgery to consult. They came by and after ultrasounding my chest, they think they might be able to get a subclavian in but aren’t sure. If they fail, there’s talk of transferring me to another hospital with another vascular surgeon who deals with more complex cases, but hopefully we don’t need to do that. So I’m on the books for the OR at 8:30am Thursday morning, where vascular surgery will hopefully place a triple lumen subclavian line. Given the fact I’m still very symptomatic of infection, having worse bone pain, and still having low grade fevers popping up daily, there’s some concern I may not have cleared the infection or am potentially fighting another infection all together. The last thing I need is for us to place this new line, just to have it get infected and need to be pulled, completely wasting one of my last access sites. They did a chest, abdomen, pelvis CT to check for any abbesses and that was clear, aside from the normal shit show my insides are. I do have a lung nodule that we’ve been watching grow that’s kinda sus so the idea of a bronchoscopy and/or CT guided biopsy was briefly brought up. As for the gi bleeding, that has slowed and I havnt had any big varices burst in the last week. However, they won’t just go away so when one eventually does burst again, we will just deal with the bleed at the time I guess…so no real plan there either. Not sure where we stand on the portal hypertension or what exactly they’re going to do about that, if they can do anything. Like I said, a lot is up in the air and constantly changing. We are just going with the flow and taking it one day at a time right now. Please pray for stability and that I can go home, and stay home, soon. I’m so tired of being sick and tired.
