I'm 67 and know I have ADHD. It makes sense of my entire life. I'm frozen with anxiety. Not living but existing. My GP won't refer me for a diagnosis. Is it because I'm too old and she thinks I'll die before an appointment?

I never had a “normal” childhood. No one bothered to find out what was up with me. No one cared and I still think they don’t really care. My son got it from somewhere and I’m pretty sure it’s from me.

while I don’t disagree - actually very much agree however my ‘80’s experience was raging alarm clocks, TV on, microwave beeping, noisy toys. Walking to school w/ cars, buses flying by. It was noisy 😭

depends on the family- my autistic child doesnt have screens before school, we dont bother having the tv on in mornings. i also try to make high protein breakfast. its all about educating yourself

iam 80 s child .Iam diagnosed with asd and ptsd only got diagnosed as a adult even though my sister was diagnosed 20 plus years before me also as a adult but more obvious due to levels

i assumed there was more awareness which is why there's more SEN kids than when I was at school. maybe the environment is bringing the kids who would have gone undiagnosed to the surface

My mum’s a Paediatric nurse and she knew I had ADD or something. ADHD didn’t have a name back then. My first school report at age 5 was ‘Karen is a disruptive child’. That’s stuck with me for 34yrs
