GLOWING HIEROGLYPHS ✨️ Hieroglyphics were the formal writing system of ancient Egypt, combining symbols that represented sounds (phonetic), whole words (logograms), or ideas (ideograms). These inscriptions were primarily used in religious and ceremonial contexts, such as temple walls and tombs. The script could be written left-to-right, right-to-left, or vertically, depending on the context, with the orientation of the symbols indicating the direction of reading. The script evolved into simpler forms like Hieratic and Demotic for everyday use. Hieroglyphs fell out of use after the spread of Christianity in Egypt and the adoption of the Coptic script.
