I had two sides of that growing up. Dad's family hated everything and everyone and voted Republican. Mom's loved people and voted Democrat.

lolol when my PhD grandparents told me i was "so well read" because i could explain "all quiet on the western front" at age 10. nothing any of us does matters the material elite dictate reality cause the rest of us spend all our time either making up excuses for not helping those who need or acting like those who need deserve to die. people are the problem.

I was taught very early in life that republicans are liars and have never done anything for the working man.

I am 1/3 of the way through Th People's History of the US and it is, so far, and AWESOME book. So interesting and well written, not at all like the boring history books from school.

I was raised in a far right doomsday cult as a kid….. I NEVER agreed with any of it but alas my family traded 1 cult for another 😫😭 unfortunately I’m STILL the “crazy” one 👀🙄😬

THIS!! I grew up in Central Rural IL. My mom read, and so did I. The rest of my family did not. They laughed and my mom and I and our love of books. I also do not talk to them.

important to note that not only did you read but you allowed yourself to let in new information that is critical but you wouldn't read those books if you weren't open already open to new ideas
