I did the same, I make 100kbase-200kOT her job was paying 35k. Child care would have hardly been covered by her check. I now have piece of mind. It comes at a cost though. I miss my kids.

Both my parents worked, it was tough since my father worked 3 weeks on which meant he was gone the entire time and my mother was a RN. Had many Christmas and holidays at my grandparents

I made it so my wife could stay home with our little one until 2 when she could go back to work and my daughter would be able to go to preschool and it's been the best for our kid and home life

what my wife and I did was talk the options through. she be a SAHM, part time, or full time for her. I'm putting in 50-60 hours either way. she decided on part time which has been great overall.

as a kid that grew up wity that i would have preferred to see my dad more than 30 minutes a day and have my mom work more. thats also one of his biggest regrests

I'm a big fan of the system my folks had. my dad would either work from home or work nights as a marketing rep while my mom worked days as an accountant. So we always had at least one parent around

We made the transition to my wife being stay at home after our 2nd. Hard to justify her bringing home just $800 or something like that after paying for childcare. Took a lean budget, but we did it.

This is basically my situation. In the end it's cheaper for her to stay home while I work than both of us to work but pay for child care. If you don't have a support network it makes sense

My criticism comes down to them only being able to afford that lifestyle by him working OT 6 days a week. It’s a recipe for burnout and disaster and him barely being there for his kids.
