alot of ppl, myself included, forget that not revealing something isn't a story. something I try to remember is how the ending relates to greater points essentially maintaining theme/message.

I generally agree except I would split the ending as the happy ending or the comedy with the tragedy or the sad ending. in the United States we mostly see the comedy.

Story telling in casual settings is also about change. People want to know why the thing your telling them matters, and that’s usually because it changed something (you, your views, etc)
