1 Corinthians Chapter 14 explains that we are to pray in tongues with interpretation in public. But if there is no interpretation we are to only pray quietly to God. It’s very powerful either way.

My church growing up was Pentecostal. Speaking in tongues was not uncommon at all. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit it just happens. It’s such a blessing.

I only pray in tongues privately. If someone does it in church, there must be an interpreter. I've been speaking in tongues since I was 10. Once I read the Bible, I knew how to use it. Powerful gift

Out in public usually under my breath/in my mind unless the Holy Spirit instructs to do it out loud. Only at church/gathering do you need an interpretation. Wait till you discover singing in tongues😍

As long as you’re not praying in tongues loudly to other people, then it’s okay. If you’re praying in tongues to someone- you need an interpretation.

The Holy Spirit hasn't stopped me from praying in tongues in public. If the tongues are from Him and not my own, then I believe it wouldn't happen in church or around others if He didnt allow it.
