i think pro livestreams would also save a lot of broadway and west end shows that are not making enough money. i would gladly pay 10-20 euros to watch a livestream of a show i really want to see

I watched a Hamilton bootleg. I proceeded to watch the proshot and bought tickets to see it twice on tour. That bootleg didn’t stop me from wanting to see it in better quality.

This is why I love starkid so much - as a British fan I never get to see them perform shows live, but they make it so we still can through digital tickets and YouTube uploads. And it works.

They should live stream from a camera above, then if you can’t make the show or the ticket price is too high, you could pay & watch like the boxing. Essentially more ticket sales too!! Less bootlegs!

Accessibility is super important but it’s also a great way to preserve moments in theatre history. There are some shows that will never get a cast recording but there might be a bootleg.

I really don’t know if believe bootlegs are because of inaccessibility. People aren’t recording because they believe shows are expensive and want more people to experience the magic, it’s an entirely

wish there were just way more proshots. I live in Belgium and we barely get any chances to see musicals. The only way is by travelling to London or to Amsterdam when they do a tour every few years :(

PLEASE!! More pro shots! And not movies of musicals (no offence wicked), but recorded stage shows. Shows only tour in Australia and often I can’t get to the city while they’re here so just miss out 😭

I think people tend to conflate bootlegs with "people recording snippets on phones", and they're two very different things. Bootlegs are indeed an answer to inaccessibility (and a form of archival!), while people on phones are a nuisance and should be reprimanded. It's two different subjects at the end of the day, and full bootlegs impact so many people worldwide! I only work in theatre today because of a Hamilton bootleg back in 2017, it literally changed the course of my life, and I only traveled to NYC from Brazil this year because I spent so long watching bootlegs dreaming about having the real thing. No theatre fan settles for bootlegs, it's a workaround. If we could, we would spend thousands of dollars on plane and theatre tickets... it's just easier said than done.
