Completely agree, this is my biggest concern too. In a perfect world AI gives us more time to be with patients but in this system it’s gonna be used to extract every iota of labor we can give

Don’t be worried it will take your job, be worried you will work more for less. Awesome

Radiology here 🤞🏻💀We use AI currently in 3D reconstruction to assist us in TAT with completing cases (ex calcium scores) we can do much more volumes now bc of it

We’ve already seen this in radiology. Better tech didn’t cause decreased demand. Demand skyrocketed due to efficiency. Now we read 50 CTs a day instead of 5.

Modern technology in America isn’t used to improve workers lives. It’s used to squeeze as much output as possible to maximize profit margins. AI doesn’t need health insurance, 401K, parental leave

We are forced to use AI for notes, and it takes me 4x longer to write a note with AI, deleting AI wild interpretations and inappropriate grammar

as a patient, I find this really worrying. I don't understand how 12 hr shifts, no protected breaks, provider:patient ratios, the challenges amending patient records, and pay rates are legal NOW.

At some point the amount of scans you can do per day is going to be the limit and not how many scans can radiologists look at

Thoughts on AI democratizing expertise? If I can query all of medical literature to find some answer, what will the roll of physicians be? How will medical education have to adapt?

Also because the motive is profit. But if we remove the idea that work is necessary, we can embrace tech. Not all jobs need to exist, and eventually there will be many jobs that become a distant

i believe hospitals are already beginning to use AI in radiology for preliminary interpretations but an attending still double-checks.

ai will encourage admin to replace expensive physicians with less expensive midlevels. if govt or hospital admin cared about patient turnover they would invest in resources to make that happen today

I think a much more likely scenario is that people will start consulting AI in lieu of going to a real doctor

At my work we're already using an AI scribe called Eleos for notes it just overlays part of the EHR. You use it with an external device, teams or just a bullet point situation in the EHR. I'm on the fence about it as I think it takes me longer to do notes with it currently. But it is helpful for people who see back to back clients and don't do notes after or concurrently as it saves the session data until you sign off on the note. But,like you said, they are hoping to increase clients seen which is already crazy in some cases. I work at a CMH organization that's already streamlined the intake process by having a same day access situation where clients are seen by a different clinician and have their evaluation, diagnosis, and (slim) treatment plan set up before transferring to their actual clinical provider(s) which is beneficial for clients but it is just weird for me as I came from more of a private practice style before. AI is definitely here to stay and we need to embrace it.

100% Yes!!! There are no safeguards and none will be forthcoming. They’ll just keep decreasing reimbursements, and a cadre of midlevels will likely take physician jobs (1/2)

The problem is that an important part of thinking jobs is reflection, letting subconscious work. But that value is hard to quantify so the suits try to optimize it out.

AI writing my notes has made my life so much better. Glad my system is not forcing me to double book, they are just happy my notes are done and accurately reflect the work I do.

Yes there’s always more work to be done - but it isn’t always in your field. There are fewer farmers today than there were 100 years ago. And doctors are even more specialized

It's sad that capitalism has trained us to think this way. Why isn't it instead, AI does the busy work and now you have more time to spend with patients? I HATE that we think technology means there are fewer jobs instead of the reality that there is less labor needed. We have to break the wheel.
