It’s not just Volkswagen. Mercedes have also announced they may have to lay off as many as 18000 workers. This only looks at the car industry though. All European manufacturers have missed the EV boat

The EU has been in economic strife for years and the euro has hardly been a massive success. I've said for years that if it moved from a trading block to the idea of a state....without getting the authorisation of the people through referendiums....and excepting the results and the main parties were only pro eu...then nationism would rise and that is bad news for every one. This has been entirely predictable but god forbid anyone admit the EU isn't perfect.

One interest rate and multiple fiscal policies doesn’t work. Countries need to control their own interest rates as a lever to drive growth.
