SLP here: I wouldn’t ask him to identify/find the symbols. You want this to be fun, not feel like a test right away. Model the communication and show him how to do it which will help him be successful

You could try implementing high tech AAC but with limited choices/words, just like with the icons

I love this! I’m an RBT I love how receptive he is to it! Maybe try scaling it down to pecs he needs like “help” or “more” or “eat” implement other pecs later! This will help him grasp the concept.

In the beginning only ask once-pause-put his hand on it full prompt. You will eventually fade these prompts-Partial hand prompts.

Speech here!* taking a GLP approach could be so helpful while using pecs as well!! IE: using the “scripts or phrases” he already has and building off them🫶🏼 i love your content and following along❣️

We did pecs with my son! Start small 1-4 and move up to more as he gets better. We put those little Velcro strips all over. 4 favorite snack on the island he can pull and bring to us.Etc! You got this
