It was mandated for all smartphones with a charging port to switch to USB-C, plus everybody asked for them to switch to USB-C, and USB-C downloads, transfers files, and charges way quicker🙏🏻🙏🏻😩

it actually isn't Apple. In Europe it was decided that all new phones would be required to have the usb-c chargers. since they had to conform in that market, all their newer phones have them.
