I audit over 50 IG University student accounts a month and study even more accounts than that & time and time again, there are clear signs on why an account isn’t converting Here are the most common issues I see: 1- aesthetics: I know, I know. You’ve heard it a million times yet 90% of accounts I look at don’t pass the 7 second test — you have 7 seconds to make a good impression (in 2025, it’s really like 3) and if you don’t, that person is outie You don’t need to have a perfect feed but your feed is your storefront and your store needs to be inviting 2- confused/bio not optimized: I should’ve listed this first because this is honestly the biggest issue I see, lack of clarity in what you do and how you help. You can have the fancy vague bio once you’ve grown your community but if you’re wanting to grow clear over clever wins every-time & your feed? It needs to have purpose and cover clear topics 3- didn’t see more similar content: If someone new is coming to your account it’s because they saw 1 piece of your content somewhere — reels explore, explore, someone’s stories — and they liked that piece of content Now if they come to your account and they don’t see more content like that (usually we’re talking about topic here), odds of them sticking around are slim Build your content pillars but let’s take it one step further, build them around your offers This will give you content consistency 4- vague/broad ICA: When people land on your account you want them to feel seen and heard from the first post they see This comes with getting specific on who you help (SPEAK TO ONE SINGLE PERSON), and that persons pain points This is especially important for your content hooks The more broad you get the less you resonate and the less you convert 5- diversity: What makes you stand out? You can have all of the above nailed and still not convert because you look and/or sound like everyone else in your niche. They dont care to follow a carbon copy of another account they’ve already followed. Share your unique perspectives and opinions. Be bold. Showcase your personality Comment “HOOK” for 150 free hooks Comment “PROMPT” for 10 chat gpt prompts for content
