hide all issues like the dealer does when selling one.

A supercharger on an LS based GM definitely don’t devalue it. This is car dependent and not a one size fits all.

Modding you vehicle no matter what reduces the buyer pool significantly, you’ll be lucky to recoup 20% of what you put in , end of story.

What frustrates me is that people want the most money for their trade but also think dealers are crooks for wanting the most money for their cars. We saw it flip during Covid market adjustments a lot.

What about getting your car detailed before taking it to trade? Is that worth it?

if you did it your self no if it's an older vehicle it may have no impact like a plat bumper on a truck. if it's done by a professional and you have the receipts it comes down to there reputation

Its convenient for dealers to devalue a modified vehicle, but then they always list way high when THEY sell it, claiming all the extra value in the mods. =stealerships

Generally, yes, aftermarket’s will devalue the car because you limit the pool of buyers. A good dealership will not “mark up” the car because of add ons, but they will definitely talk about them

I would say it all depends on the type of vehicle that you have for instance if you have a jeep and you go to those Jeep modification places and spend 30 $40,000. It is desired people want your car more now and you will sell for a lot more, but you need to sell it on your own and you will get the profit plus some back so all depends on the vehicle and what you did for notifications there’s not yes and no answer to this. Sorry your amount of customers that you’ll be exposed at want that vehicle will be less. Yes I agree on that but there will be a buyer for every pot. There’s a cover remember that.

This is dead on. Only thing I’d add is some reliability modifications are worth a lot, like Bulletproof EGR coolers on 6.0 Diesels

Completely depends on the dealer and the car. You can account for 10-20% of your money back on the money spent on mods if sold privately or to an independent dealer specializing in modded cars

Dealer style add-ons can bring value price up. BUT, to Personal/Custom add-ons price goes down. What You like and what I like 2 different things, so DECREASES the buyer market.

Makes sense. They know that car is going to sit on the lot longer while they look for the right buyer. So, they pay to less. However, they know that right buyer will pay more for those add-ons.
