In the first Moana, we had a similar scene, but this one really resonated because it felt like that ancestors not just Gramma Tala were connected and active in Moana’s life. I will say Tangaloa/Tagaloa/Tangaroa/Kanaloa was depicted to be more malevolent. Whereas he was revered as a caretaker here in Hawaiʻi. He watches over us as we take our final journey back to Pō.
