@pbsnews: In 2019, a devastating fire broke out in Paris’ Notre Dame Cathedral, destroying most of its wooden roof, damaging the upper walls and causing its iconic wooden spire to collapse. The historic building, built in the 12th century, is widely considered a feat of French Gothic architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage site that received millions of visits a year before the fire. Five years later, a rebuilt Notre Dame Cathedral is just days away from reopening to the public. French President Emmanuel Macron toured the site on Friday and his visit provided some first glimpses of this extraordinary restoration. PBS News’ special correspondent Malcolm Brabant met some of the expert artists and artisans whose skills have preserved "Our Lady" for centuries to come. #pbsnewshour #pbsnews #newshour #notredame #notredamecathedral #cathedral #france #paris #restoration #notredamedeparis
