How is a middleman model better than direct to consumer? Middlemen always make the final product more expensive because they need to be paid and thus raise the cost of said product.

My biggest problem is I used to be able to afford a new car two years ago I can’t any longer. I also don’t have a problem with the weight dealerships run, but after a decade in the car business, I’m getting negotiating price.

I have never talked to anyone who was happy to go shop cars at a dealership. If I could click 3 buttons on a website and pay for it right there I would any day but that isn’t allowed by law

Small counterpoint, you don’t negotiate on consumer goods, but you do typically negotiate anything over a certain value, houses for instance. Everything else I agree with.

I went to maybe put a deposit on a Grand Highlander today… $999 for windshield protection, $699 for dent protection, $899 for paint protection, $699 appearance protection. I don’t even like it anymore

I was quite happy with the Tesla purchase process. the price was upfront..I did everything through the app... including the financing. the only actual paper I had to sign was Indiana title paperwork

Would there be any negotiation leverage to allowing them to appraise my trade-in negotiating that price, and then keeping the trade-in and paying for the negotiated price of the new car? Essentially, would they give me a better price if I had a trade-in?

Not a dealerships are bad. Human contact and building friendships are what this country has lost sight of. I have been in the car business 24 years and love what I do. Retail is retail. So negative.
