I hate the tipping culture in america, it's not making any sense. In France, tipping is optional and you aren't judged because you don't tip because you may be tight on money and want just a small meal at the restaurant to relieve stress with friends. And if you tip, you don't have to choose a percentage of your meal to tip, it mostly is change that you give wich they split evenly between all people working the shift.

I had someone complain about my service because my eyes were puffy and I was sniffling. My greatzgrandfather died 2 hours prior and no one would cover my shift. They changed my tip from $5 to $20.
