To be fair, it was fkn slick out there. Had to take the side roads home from Barrie. Even with 4WD and careful driving there was some controlled sliding.

Sometimes this is when the roads are the worst because it can start out as rain, turn to freezing rain then snow. Then you have ice under the snow.

If your family can’t drive, get some studded winter tires from a Northern Ontario tire dealer. You will have to defraud the system with fake info but isn’t that how a lot of people got here?
