kids lack emotional intelligence and the ability to self regulate (as they should) and adults who never developed those skills either feel particularly triggered in my experience

I feel the same way. I love kids and I get a lot of joy watching them grow and learn, but it doesn’t compare to the joy I get when I sleep in til 9am and can continue to lay in bed alone
