He is still in critical condition and currently hospitalized. Simi’s body is full of infections. He had a feeding tube placed, but it had to be removed due to complications. He is eating on his own now, but not well, because he is in a lot of pain. His entire jaw and mouth are broken. He had a CT scan yesterday, and another feeding tube was placed. We hope this one will work better. The scan showed many fractures in his skull. His jaw is completely fractured. He will need: • An external fixator to stabilize his jaw, • Braces inside his mouth to help him bite again, • Surgery to fix the damage in his TMJ (temporomandibular joint), which is the joint that lets the jaw move to open and close the mouth. The impact also caused Simi to go blind. One eye popped out and will need to be removed. The other eye might still be saved—we’re not sure yet. There’s blood inside his ears, and we don’t know if he has lost his hearing. The surgeon will confirm this soon. Simi has a very long and painful road to recovery, and we are doing everything we can.
