Sounds like Planet Fitness… I did this bc they would NOT cancel my membership. I was asked to write a letter to explain my why and it was denied so I decided them by canceling the card.

It’s not just gyms. I’ve cancelled a card also in order to escape unauthorized charges. It can be exhausting trying to cancel a membership or subscription.

I closed by bank account because planet fitness wouldn’t stop billing me, I went in once with a friend as a guest and I couldn’t come in because I “owed” hundreds 🤣of dollars

I tried to cancel a membership and the 13 1/2 yr old that worked there shamed me for giving up (I was moving to a state w/out a crunch fitness) I left crying and paid for another 6 years. 😂

A lot of gyms make you sign a contract and then if payment fails they send you to collections.

I’ve worked at multiple gyms. They make you come in to cancel it so they can talk you out of it. There honestly is only one or maybe 2 people who have authority to cancel it, so if they’re not around it can’t be done. If his account had late fees or he wasn’t up to date on his monthly bill he’s shit out of luck. I’ve known plenty of people, sadly, that have canceled cards due to this

Anytime Fitness did that to me. 6 months and 3 disputes later and they still reported me to collections.

I told them I was moving so I could legally get out of my contract. They said you have to transfer and cancel at the new location. So I did. New location said no, you have to cancel in the previous

I was offered a “free” magazinesubscription by a store and at auto charged me for a subscription. I had to cancel the card the next year because they wouldn’t stop charging me
