This is what happened to my husband. He was diagnosed with Type 1 at 28 yrs old. He was told it was brought on by an upper respiratory infection that he had the month prior.

He is just precious. My family has gone through type 1 diabetes with my granddaughter when she was 5 years old. It was also brought on by an infection. Sending prayers.

I am the only one in my family, too! We have a lot of Celiac and Hashimoto's in my direct family members though. Chicken pox triggered my type 1 💙

Hes such a cutie pie.My Grandboy was 9yrs old when he was diagnosed with Type one diabetes.Hes 12 now and wears a Dexcom and a pump.The day he was diagnosed he got very sick and throwing up

Mine was shingles then pneumonia! Anything that lowers the immune system can trigger the body to attack its own islet cells!

My son was 13 when he was diagnosed with T1 after he had strep throat. My Grandfather had T1. My mother was diagnosed with T2 at 83. I was diagnosed with T2 at 65
