Low iron > Take iron tablets > blood test says normal so GP stops the tablets > become anaemic again > blood test says low iron > repeat... For years. 😑

I always have very low iron.. For some reason my body won't absorb it via tablets. I had iron infusions once a year n worked great but now I'm struggling to get it.

okay but what about b12 deficiency, especially in absorption issues because the low normals that don't flag on the reference ranges! docs aren't aware!

What about taking vitamin c with iron tablets? Does that help it absorb? I heard that if you take iron tablets without this it is basically pointless???

I take my iron tablet with my combined vitD/magnesium tablet so does that mean it doesn’t get absorbed as much?

I got prescribed ferrous fumarate and got told to take them for 3 months then another blood test will be taken. Bloods were taken, havent told me those results or to come of the tablets 5months on

iron tablets cause stomach issues if not taken with food or late during night. best time take is with lunch and on alternative days so every 2nd or 3rd day. been taking them for years.

I take Spatone, brilliant stuff, really nice like a small sachet of apple juice. recommended by my GP.

I got given FF because my Iron stores are low. Which they think is causing my excessive hairloss. I was on 3 a day, but it's making me very ill. Difficult to get an appointment. Can I reduce them ?

This is me. 1 tablet for 3months no change with bad side effects (opposite to most) so they doubled for 6months now been off 2weeks blood test 2nd Jan. I still feel absolutely dreadful and exhausted.

i have anemia iron deficiency, iron tablets had me sick for a month but I pushed trough and my body got used to it my iron levels are now normal

I have polycythemia vera. I'm iron deficient because of venesections. It's awful. restless legs, thin hair weak nail's. can't stay asleep. it's horrible

I have chronic diarrhoea and nausea on the tablets. Just had to stop them. GP going to try me on the liquid. Just hope this is ok for me. Taking it every other day didn’t work for me.
