I have a habit of using 3 dots in a sentence, after a word, to indicate a pause or change in emphasis. I have no idea where I picked it up. Have you come across this? Example… now I can’t think of one

An Em dash (—) with no word spaces either side is used in US English. For British English we use an En dash ( – ) with word spaces either side. No spaces for numbers and dates (12–20).
