The well-known Earl, who visited Monday–Friday, made a shocking revelation—he never drank tea! Your turn: all 3 in a sentence.

I always love it when I stumble upon grammar TikTok and it’s done by a British person.

Is any one of these the one used to reflect/start a piece of dialog?
Like
- I don't know which dash is used to start dialog - said the dumb guy.

A pet peeve of mine is when people add a space around the em dash—as if.

I have a habit of using 3 dots in a sentence, after a word, to indicate a pause or change in emphasis. I have no idea where I picked it up. Have you come across this? Example… now I can’t think of one

It's not simply the size of the dash that matters, it is also how you use it!

My mum and I are trying to find out why up-to-date is often written with hyphens but out of date isn’t. Neither of us know why.

An Em dash (—) with no word spaces either side is used in US English. For British English we use an En dash ( – ) with word spaces either side. No spaces for numbers and dates (12–20).
