Today with @Fromtheapse in the organ, I sing the Introit of the “Requiem aeternam”, the opening chant of the Mass for the Dead in the Roman rite. This Gregorian melody, rooted in the Middle Ages, has carried the Church’s prayer for the departed for centuries. The first time I heard this hymn was during the funeral Mass of Pope Francis, and it moved me deeply.
