My journey to reaching this level of peace was worth it! When the 15th came around, I checked my account. No mortgage withdrawal after years of automatic payments. At 23, I use to say, “I live like a 40 year old”,, now I’m looking forward to 40💃🏾. Paid it Off! 🙌🏾 Long Version: How this all started. I went to therapy in college (age 19) and asked the therapist how to minimize my anxiety. I realized I had a fear of earning a degree but still ending up being homeless. Bought a house at 21. Another at 22 and age 24. Problem solved. Kept telling myself with all my responsibilities and bills, it will all be worth it later. So later came and I was back in therapy, trying to figure out how to get rid of my anxiety all together! My anxiety came back stronger. Turns of the solution to my problem at 20, caused me anxiety in my 30’s. So for two years I worked on everything that could get in the way of me reaching my new goal. For 2 years, I figured out how to grieve the life I wanted for the (husband and children I didn’t have). I had to forgive myself for all the things I tried to do to make that part of my dream come true. My anxiousness was through the roof as I felt I was running out of time. And yes I use to think naively, a man will just come pay this off easily and make this ours. 1st, my house was never good enough for a generation of men who like new things (heard it time and time again). 2nd, money has a spirit and if the money a man is making is not in God, you can feel it. 3rd, some generous men spend money on things that make you/him feel good, not investments. Lastly, buying together works for some people, for me I don’t want to ever buy another house (too much debt is stressful). So I found myself yet again holding off on what was best for me and what turns out was only for me. Acceptance brings about a peace. Paying it off means I’m yet in the same category as many women. A man would not only have to buy me a house, (I thought I had the solution for that when I was younger), but also it would have to be in a good school district or close to mine as long as I’m responsible for Legend’s upbringing. Yall I was scared of this truth. In life we all have to accept the consequences of our actions. I’m only a few weeks in mortgage free, but many months without anxiety. I sold the home that was the root of the problem (A money maker, but all money aint yo’ money). And reached a place that will leave me in a state of never being homeless; without all the poor habits of keeping myself in a state of grind, just to fit in with the norm. I’ve never followed the crowd. Thought I had to get in the crowd to find what I needed. Lesson Learned. I’m proud to say, “I’m mortgage free and can pay my bills up for the year with my earnings”. Living below my means worked. That was always the goals of my retirement/stay at home mom life. Why God chose me,,, thanking him for our 25 year in depth relationship. Dave Ramsey Thank You! Brother’s Contracting in Atl Thank you! Ps. We all can dream big, and we may never get all that we wanted but surviving the journey is the true blessing. Hug yourself and love on yourself.#Home #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp #house #financialfreedom #peace
