@60minutes9: Teachers across Australia are leaving the profession en masse, with schools struggling to fill vacant positions. In 2022, principal and author John Marsden told #60Mins the education system needs a massive overhaul, slamming the government for their inaction. Watch more on 9Now - link in our bio.
Wait until you hear that teachers need to pay $100 annually to even be allowed to teach each year.

If they want us teachers to work in country schools, pay us mining wages!!! There are no perks for moving away! Mining companies could easily supplement our wages 🤷♀️

Parents just want teachers to teach literacy and numeracy. We don’t want all the ideology that has captured the education department

I love being a teacher. full time wage for a part time job. 3 months holidays a year. I'm accountable to no one. I teach the same curriculum year after year and don't have to learn any new skills. 😁

I homeschool and one of the biggest reasons is the education system is broken. The other is bullying and behaviour issues are a huge problem.

Well, I get chairs thrown at me and every resource thrown into supporting a child whose parents still send him when he’s suspended so… I have had enough with the abuse

Public schools don’t get enough funding, teaching is a relatively low paying career for the amount of work you need to do, and from what I hear bullying in the workplace is awful.

For a start take out grade levels. Irrelevant to an individuals developmental blocks of progression. This creates added shame and anxiety for nothing!

has nothing to do with publicity and everything to do with the toxic workplace and university culture. Make education and trade like degree half study half in person learning

Most parents don’t want parents roles to be “all encompassing”. Teach the core subjects and leave the rest to parents

There isn’t a teacher shortage Part of the problem is the government is cutting funds and making classes with 30 students and the behaviour problem we teachers face every day is horrible

There’s too much administration for teachers to do. Reports programs PDS PDP. Too much paperwork on top of the teaching on top of behaviour and managing the class. It’s extremely stressful get rid of

The admin, marking and programming is manageable, the hardest part of teaching is behaviour management from both students and teachers. In the 25 years that’s the area that’s gotten worse.
