@dr_mattbarrett: ⚠️ Tap here for the answer! ✅ Spoiler alert: Ganglion Here you can see a great big ganglion being expressed in the foot! Tendons attach muscles to bone. To help them glide with minimal friction, they typically travel in tendon sheaths. These sheaths are lined with synovial fluid. If their integrity is disturbed then this fluid can accumulate into a mucoid/gelatinous mass called a ganglion! 💡They most commonly happen on the back of the wrist Usually they’re left alone to resorb by themselves 📕 In ye olde times they’d be struck with a heavy book to squish them (but they’ll likely come back later) 🔪 If particularly bothersome they can be surgical expressed like you’re seeing here! #doctor #nurse #medical #mbbs #medico #medstudent
