I have been denied thousands for my son. He also needs OT, Speech and PT. They have covered 0 and my deductible in 20k. Many phone calls with me crying. Paid out of pocket 4500 for diagnosis too.

Were they in “mourning” when they stepped over his dead body to still hold their scheduled meeting on time?

I work with kiddos with autism and can confirm parents are always told they haven’t tried enough alternatives before ABA. I will say ABA is very controversial but I’m sure they are just doing it for

How long until people are just uninsured by choice, because the end result is either, no coverage or no coverage + poorer.

I work in insurance… unfortunately, this isn’t new or specific to United. It’s disgusting. There’s a lot of controversy around ABA, however I doubt that’s the reason that they won’t cover it.

In Australia I get NDIS for my 2 autistic children of over a 120 K a year just for therapy and social support- they are young adults now and still receive it and $1100 per fornite each even know I work as a electrician and earn good money - I don’t have any private insurance and all their medical is free n medicine is abt $6.50 per item as u get a pension card and both my kids have a companion card that allows the social support worker or me to get in free to movies and theme parks etc - u guys deserve better and I hope things change in a big good way for u all 🥰 I would have 2 pay about $20-30 for medicine for me thou as I don’t have a pension card but hospital is free

As a BCBA, I'm not surprised by this. I doubt it's just United though. We have issues with every insurance, but Anthem BCBS has been the worst for us recently

This hurts my heart. ABA helped my daughter so much with coping with her sensory sensitivity and I don’t know what we would have done. I’m glad we went with Amerihealth and not UHC for her benefits.

YUP. as a BCBA many of our clients have had service delays because of UHC (we help them apply for state medical assistance and that covers our services) but the families still experience delays.

we paid $75 per dau for our son's ABA with UHC with $1500 per month premiums AFTER deductible. Now we has BCBS from my husband's union job and we pay $15 BEFORE deductible, premium is paid by employer
