I had a dear professor in grad school say that you can have everything you want, just not all at once. It’s okay to move through different stages of wants and desires; honor each side of yourself 💟

Totally resonates with me…I’m studying law right now but I still mourn having to turn down my dream art schools because of practicality and it’s taken me so long to process.

I graduated from a degree I spent almost a decade laser focused on getting(beginning from secondary/high school) earlier this year. My only motivation for pulling through my final year was promising myself a gap year after graduation to just discover myself and recover from being constantly under both physical and mental stress and suppressing myself and it really truly has been amazing so far. And no, I don't have money......however this is something I fixed my mind on doing and quite insistent on

At this point at 24 and not even in a prestigious job. I miss performing so, so much, but I don’t know how to address this need without destabilizing my (new) career.

You need to slow down. Give yourself time to really tap into what you want & makes you happy. Don't need to measure yourself by society's standards 🙏

I think I’m gonna watch this video every week and drill this into my head. I’m tired of fantasising of these alternate me’s that are escaping from today me and inner child me. When truly I just want to feel comfortable in my own skin and mind despite the situarions I’m in and address my different needs without all those drastic thoughts. My life is more than trauma, work, and fighting for status in this world. Thank you so much for posting this ❤️

I think everybody should check out Cal Newport, specifically his ideas on Lifestyle Centric career planning, and the Deep Life. He’s got two books I’d recommend: So Good They Can’t Ignore You (1/2)

The way you talk about different parts of yourself reminds me of the therapy modality I’ve benefited from called IFS - internal family systems. Look into it! The premise is there are no bad parts :)

It’s just baffling how we have to sacrifice happiness for practicality just to be safe and secure, because if you choose something you truly love, the path is always foggy

Yes. Be kind & be caring to yourself & others. And do your best. Be both in radical curiosity, while being realistic bc we do live in a society. I literally have moved from the southeast to Midwest ..

Watched that whole video and I left the state for four months this year. now that I’m back I hate that I’m on survival mode already. I’m not asking for a handout but just a job that takes care of me
