As a former pilot based out of O’Hare, nothing to see here. Spacing is everything at O’Hare and if a landing plane can’t make a timely exit off the runway, we go around. This is pure fear mongering!

I live 20 minutes from ohare & in the sky we can see 30+ planes lined up in rows waiting to land at the airport. We used to see 5-10 at most but lately there’s tons of planes in the sky.

I was on a plane with a go-around and everyone was just, “Oh. Not yet? Okay.” The pilot came on and said we’d been coming in too hot (speed too fast for landing) and then we landed. No big.

That happened to me at ohare about 5 years or so ago. That’s the only place it’s ever happened in more flights than I can remember. Nearly landed and then suddenly climbing and turning out over the lake.

Yeah I’ve been on a go around coming into ohare it’s really not a big deal just unexpected. Getting on a plane or getting in a car you know the risk. Difference is they are a professional.

Just looked at the playback, in both cases the previously landing plane was just about to get off the runway when the pilots decided to go around, about 1.5 miles out and 400-500 ft up
