He’s talking about people who believe in crazy things, people who make up 50% of the United States. They are in denial of systemic racism. They believe an invisible man in the sky is watching us and use that to justify hateful beliefs, such as thinking lgbt people shouldn’t exist. This is what the song means to me, and I would bet a million dollars that it means the same thing to mgmt. it’s fairly obvious what it’s about if you understand the true state of our society. But to a lot of people it probably just passes over their heads and they think it’s a cool sounding song. it’s funny you posted this bc I was driving around and this song came on and I was like holy shit, what a fucking classic.
