We use a "whipped" mousse like frosting for it. Then use a fork to make a bark texture. Sometimes we melt chocolate and spread it thin on parchment. When it hardens, shatter it and use pieces as bark

try spraying the wax paper with cooking spray. I do that when I make pumpkin rolls and dust a towel with powder sugar and roll when hot

Just a little tip- Rolling the cake in a tea towel when it is still hot helps it to set the spiral memory and avoids sticking to the paper. Allow it to cool in the towel and you’re good to go!

Forget the powdered sugar, just dampen a kitchen towel and leave on the roulade to cool. Otherwise it will dry out and crack. No need to roll until you fill

I always roll my cake on a towel with powdered sugar so itbwont stick to towel roll right out of pan let cool then unroll and put your filling in so much easier than rolling your flat cake
