I've done this with strictly garlic. let set in fridge 3days. stir daily. 4th day, eat 1 teaspoon daily. I don't strain anything. just eat as is. actually delicious and wasn't sick that whole year.

Nooo, it needs lime juice, and it needs to ferment for over a week. I have been using this for over 40 years. It works and it is delicious
