some rollers only vibrate when moving forward or in reverse to reduce pitting on surface being compacted, should also have a fuse, if not under hood might be a panel under steering wheel

Look into the safety features on the vibration, the newer ones have to be in gear, and in a certain speed and or RPM to turn on the exciter which is the hydraulic part of the vibration.

those roller vibrate switch will probably work in low speed setting if not look under bonnet next to isolator and will have 3 glass fuses ones for vibe

So i noticed the number on the roller and the name. Going to ask somebody I know if that was his dad's roller at one point. He owned Back excavating in ohio.
