MAKE SURE TO FAST THESE DAYS: (may 28th - June 5th (esp June 5th since it’s the day of arafah) … Dhul Hijjah is the 12th and final month in the Islamic calendar, known as the "month of Hajj". It's a sacred month in Islam, and the first ten days are considered the best days of the year, where righteous deeds are especially favored by Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said: "No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul Hijja).” (Sahih Bukhari, 969) What Can You Do During These Days? 🌷note: Don’t aim for perfection aim for sincerity. Even small, consistent deeds with a sincere heart are beloved to Allah. Make the most of these 10 golden days they might be your best chance to come closer to Him this year. 1. Fasting (Especially on the Day of Arafah) • Fasting during the first 9 days is highly recommended, especially for those not performing Hajj. • The Day of Arafah (9th Dhul-Hijjah) holds extra reward: The prophet ﷺ said: “Fasting on the Day of Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.” (Sahih Muslim, 1162) Note: It is haram to fast on the 10th, which is Eid al-Adha. 2. Increase in Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah) These are days of remembering Allah constantly: • Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) • La ilaha illAllah (There is no god but Allah) • Alhamdulillah (All praise is due to Allah) • SubhanAllah (Glory be to Allah) • Astaghfirullah (I seek Allah’s forgiveness) • La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (There is no power nor strength except with Allah) And many other dhkir you can say “So remember Allah during the appointed days.” (Qur’an – Surah Al-Baqarah 2:203) 3. Prayer (Salah) • Make all your five daily prayers on time. • Increase your voluntary prayers: • Duha prayer (after sunrise) • Tahajjud (late night) • Rawatib Sunnah (before/after obligatory prayers) 4. Read and Reflect on the Qur’an Reading the Qur’an is one of the greatest righteous deeds so doing it in these blessed days multiplies the reward. - Every Letter = Huge Reward The Prophet ﷺ said: "[Whoever recites a letter] from Allah's Book, then he receives the reward from it, and the reward of ten the like of it. I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter." (Tirmidhi, 2910) Now imagine that multiplied during the best days of the year! • These days are a great time to reconnect with the Qur’an. It helps us purify our hearts and reconnect with our Creator. Even reading a few ayat a day with reflection brings reward. Focus on understanding and acting upon it. 5. Make Constant Du’a (Supplication) • Ask for forgiveness, guidance, peace, Jannah, and protection from Hellfire. • The Day of Arafah is one of the best days to make du’a. 6. Sincere Repentance (Tawbah) Turn back to Allah with a clean heart. These days are perfect for changing your habits and asking for forgiveness. “O My servants who have wronged their souls, do not despair of Allah’s mercy…” (Surah Az-Zumar 39:53) Make a plan to stop sinful habits and start fresh before it’s too late 7. Charity and Helping Others • Give in sadaqah — even a little counts. • Support family, neighbors, or people in need. • Every act of kindness is multiplied in reward during these days. The prophet ﷺ said: “Charity does not decrease wealth…” (Sahih Muslim, 2588) 8. Perform Qurbani (Sacrifice) • If you can afford it, it’s Sunnah to sacrifice an animal on Eid al-Adha (10th Dhul-Hijjah). • It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) devotion to Allah. “It is not their meat or their blood that reaches Allah, but it is your piety that reaches Him…” (Surah Al-Hajj 22:37) Note: If you plan to offer a sacrifice: the Prophet ﷺ said: “When the ten days begin and one of you intends to offer a sacrifice, let him not cut his hair or nails until he has offered the sacrifice.” (Sahih Muslim, 1977)
