This explains a lot. For example if ur house is very messy growing up you correct it in your adulthood and keep a very minimalist environment. So I think overconsumption pushed you into saving mode.

To give a different insight, did they grow up poor? I grew up with barely anything to eat besides kd and noodles and I will admit I’m bad for the overconsumption with food too.

oh so it’s a trauma response! mines the opposite, grew up around my mom’s overconsumption, literally not being able to walk around the house because the floor wasn’t visible from the amount of things she had. But most weren’t things she would buy for me, so now I just spend money on things for me because everytime I justify it by thinking “it could be worse, i could be buying things that would ruin my life!”
