When you pay with a card, the card companies add fees so for a small purchase those fees hurt. Carry a little cash to help those small businesses.

I started paying with cash and keep my debit card locked unless absolutely necessary. Too many fraudulent and or unauthorized transactions lately.

They don’t want to pay fees for cards. Lamberts restaurant in Missouri and Alabama only started taking cards during covid. They would take checks but no cards!

I don't know how it works in the US, but in Brazil we have Pix. It doesn't have any fees for the buyer or the vendor, and all banks accept it. Even streets vendor and homeless people accept pix here.

Some card companies charge a fee for card use. Cash only alleviates this cost to the owner. Until cash isn’t a thing, it’s still a thing. Good grief, always have some damn cash for this reason.
