As a fellow refusal to promote spc4 I felt all of this! I was blindsided by my CoC in the field and handed stripes..then again when your points were 350….i even tried getting my name wrong!

TBH, these were my favorite SPC and the ones that probably deserved the promotion. Spent a lot of time getting to know their craft, got promoted to E-5 eventually, made staff at year 8 and then caught up to their friends by year 9-10 by making SFC with them.

My promotion board story was kinda similar to this but less vulgar. They asked me if it was true I didn't want to promote and was like yup. I was the only person that passed.

had a soldier go in for the board, and he screamed the NCO creed, once he finished, they didn’t ask a single question after that and they told him to leave, next thing I knew he was promotable. confidence is key in the board lol
