Based on the spot of the ball with the TV graphic, the ball would have to cross the plane (backwards) for a 1 yard loss. If the ball isn’t spotted with the nose even touching the line it’s NO GAIN.

In the NFL, if you dont lose/gain a full yard its not considered a yard. And they obviously dont use 1/2 yards.
