@reddit_jj4: SIL couldn't handle the fact that I was giving birth to the first grandchild of the family, despite the fact that she was married longer. She tried to "one-up" my pregnancy by announcing hers at my baby shower. We were all happy about it until BIL threw a bombshell that she didn't see coming.
