The gov get double tax when you buy a car at the end of a month. They still backdate the tax till the beginning of the month even though it’s been paid by the previous owner. What a con !!!!

if buy used cars before march 2017 is less but each year is increased prices and last car was Ka plus or 1.0 engine models for £20 or free road tax but age and mileage is affected to look out

road tax was replaced in April 2017 for £190 for all models below £40k from new if including options on top over the 40k is over £400 tax
